Managed Apple id and how to configure them on iPad
Apple provide 2 typology of apple id.
Standard apple ID (the one you can create or recover
here)
The main difference is that some services are disabled on managed apple id
- iTunes Store purchasing
- Book Store purchasing
- HomeKit connected devices
- Apple Pay
- Find My iPhone
- Find My Mac
- Find My Friends
- iCloud Mail
- iCloud Keychain (although, keychain items are saved and restored on Shared iPad devices)
- iCloud Family Sharing
- FaceTime (this is off by default, but your institution can turn it on)
- iMessage (this is off by default, but your institution can turn it on)
- Because Managed Apple IDs can't make purch
We provide students only a managed apple id, that is used mainly to maintain apple classroom on iPads and Macs.
Teachers receive a managed apple id and should create a standard apple id by themselves to access the store and all the services.
